We're hosting an artist reception for Shanda on Thursday, May 30th from 6 to 8pm here in our Taproom. Meet the artist, raise a pint to local art, and purchase a piece of your own from her collection lovingly titled, Not Your Grandma’s Quilts!

Artist Statement from Shanda:
My obsession with fabric started when I was a teenager. My mom would bring home clothes she had bought for me, and I almost immediately started cutting them up, using her old sewing machine that I didn’t really know how to use to stitch pieces back together.

Fast forward a few years, I was asking an amazing family friend who was known for her awesome sewing and costumes, how to make something I was attempting to make a little better. She invited me to her house, sat me down, showed me a few basics and I was off and running. I went to her house every week for a couple years.

I love mixing mediums, materials, and breaking away from traditional techniques. My love of nature, the macabre, and anything a little weird always find their way into my work.
