SHIFT LEADER

Job Opportunity: SHIFT LEADER - YELLOW SRINGS BREWERY TAPROOM & KITCHEN

Location: CLINTONVILLE, OH

Job Summary:

Lead the Taproom staff during a scheduled shift by providing direction on how to best serve our customers in alignment with our company vision, mission, and core values. Ensure that the taproom staff are providing consistent service to customers and are following company policy. Perform opening and closing duties as specified. When no other manager is on active duty, serve as the single point of contact for staff issues surrounding beer, customers and peers. Report to Taproom General Manager.

General Accountabilities:

• Perform all duties listed on bartender job description
• Understand product quality and proper procedures surrounding quality issues
• Ensure established serving practices are properly maintained during shift
• Offer and assign coverage for staff breaks
• Handle customer refunds and/or voids
• Close cash drawer at end of day
• Verify the brewery is locked and secure before leaving
• Attend scheduled meetings 
• Provide regular feedback and maintain open communication with entire leadership team
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Managers
• Verify that scheduled staff is on time, arrange for staff changes if needed
• Decide on shift staff cuts based on customer volume
• Ensure opening and closing duties are completed during scheduled shift 
• Assign staff positions during shifts
• Communicate assignments with later scheduled staff as they arrive
• Make draft changes as necessary
• Execute emergency plans as necessary

Job Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two to four years service industry experience. Craft beer experience and passion a plus
• TIPS training and Brewery Education scheduled upon hire

• Excellent oral communication skills necessary
• Social perceptiveness and ability to deal with conflict resolution
• Critical thinking and ability to think quickly in high volume atmosphere
• Supervisory skills to lead scheduled staff

• Active listening
• Coordination, ability to lift up to 55 lbs.

Hours Required:

• Weekends and evenings required
• Full-time hourly tipped position (32-40 hours/week)
